Are you staying for just a weekend or longer?

Welcome to the Ch'Nord” We, Ch'tis, will be delighted to show you around our lovely region, where you will find plenty of good ideas for breaks, for accommodation and wonderful food too.

Follow us across the five areas of the Nord, a veritable palette of different colours, from the blue of the Opal Coast to the picturesque red of the brick houses in our villages and on to the green of the bocage landscapes of the Avesnois. Our region is rich is nuances, in cultural influences, just like its inhabitants; convivial, welcoming, full of character. So, have a coffee (with chicory of course!) and let’s go!

Head up to the port of Dunkerque, in Flanders Opal Coast.  In the distance you can make out the Gravelines lighthouse, you can see in your mind’s eye the beach and also the belfry in Bergues. Those made of sterner stuff, the thrill-seekers among you, can take in a session of kite-surfing whilst the rest of us take a boat trip out to sea.  In the evening, everyone’ll meet up in a comfortable stopover gîte with disabled access for a smart stay, all together.
We carry on to the protected landscapes of the Heart of Flanders, known for its Monts or Hills, just a few kilometres from the border with Belgium.  Between visits to the Cassel windmill and the Belfry in Bailleul, we take in a number of village fairs, known here as ducasses. After a break for lunch at the chip stall or the inn, we’ll put on our Carnival fancy dress and enjoy the traditions, dancing, laughter and singing and the parade of the Giants, now awarded UNESCO World Heritage status. Then we continue the authenticity of our countryside stay with the “potjevleeshat the table d’hôtes dinner in our guesthouse.

From Paris, Greater Lille is only an hour by high-speed train.  We set off on our quick break, with a visit to the Tri Postal, the La Piscine museum in Roubaix, and the Jardins Mosaïc and then in the afternoon, in Roubaix, shopping at “L’Usine” and in the Mac Arthur
Glen complex. In the evening we have a tarte au maroilles and a beer in an estaminet, a convivial restaurant cum meeting place, before going back to our gîte in one of the surrounding villages, And then, to round off the weekend, a performance at the Opéra de Lille or a quick trip to Brussels.

Follow your own ideas, the Ch’tis will find you the accommodation to go with them.
